RRB NTPC Mains: Section Wise Preparation
As per the latest RRB NTPC Mains pattern, CBT Stage 2 will consist of three sections – General Awareness, Reasoning & General Intelligence and Arithmetic Ability.
The preparation methodology for these three sections is different.
I will help you with the section wise preparation techniques for RRB NTPC Mains.
General Awareness
- This is one section of the RRB NTPC Mains Exam that is not taken very seriously by candidates. Most feel that marks can be easily fetched in this section. Now this is true that marks can be scored in the General Awareness Section. However, not easily. You should be quite tactful in preparaing for this section.
- A good knowledge of both static as well as dynamic affairs is required. I insist that candidates should read a good newspaper daily and make notes out of it. The Hindu is the best newspaper to be followed by RRB NTPC aspirants. Keep revising current affairs daily.
- Besides a good newspapers, follow magazines like Pratiyogita Darpan, Frontine and Yojana.
- Score well in this section to have a good score overall.
Reasoning & General Intelligence
- Prior to the exam, expose yourself to varied topics and keep solving as many problems as you can. Having solved a number of different questions will boost your confidence level. You will not panic in the exam.
- You will have to master the techniques in solving different questions – be it blood relations or puzzles or direction problems etc.
- Read questions extremely carefully. Even minor variations in the language of questions asked makes a lot of difference.
Arithmetic Ability
- If there’s one keyword which defines performance in this section, it is Practice. The more in touch an aspirant is with the numeric concepts, the better it will be for scoring in this section.
- In case your fundamentals are not very strong, do not worry. Start from scratch. Take R.S Aggarwal’s book on mathematics for Classes VIII, IX and X. Practice, and then move on to higher level books. Make sure you have understand the basics well.
- Once your basics are clear, include short cuts in solving numeric problems. Short cuts will help you in saving time.
- Remember all the formulas and their applications by heart.
