About Kalpana Chawla Govt. Medical College:

The State Government decided to establish a Medical College at Karnal in the memory of famous Astronaut LATE KALPANA CHAWLA who belonged to Karnal. Shri Bhupinder Singh Hooda, Honorable Chief Minister Haryana made the announcement of establishing this Medical College at Karnal on 26.01.2010. Image Placeholder Accordingly it was decided by the Government to construct a new medical college for 100 MBBS seats and new state of the art hospital with 500 beds on turn key basis. Hospital Services Consultation Corporation (HSCC) INDIA Ltd. Noida, a Government of India Enterprises under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has been appointed for providing consultancy services from concept to commissioning for the project. The project will be completed in 25 months. Image Placeholder The concept plan of the project was approved on 10.10.2012 and the Honorable Chief Minister Haryana laid down the foundation stone of the Kalpana Chawla Govt. Medical College on 18.11.2012. The detailed project report worth Rs. 645.77 Crores for the college has been approved of the college was approved in the 5th steering committee meeting held on 16.04.2013. The college will be constructed on the 44 acres of the land belonging to police lines and civil hospital Karnal.This land has already been transfered to KCGMC, karnal along with other nearby lands of medical enclave measuring 3.5 acres and jernailly kothi measuring 1.5 acres. The administrative & functional control of general hospital Karnal has been handed over to Kalpana Chawla Govt. Medical College, Karnal w.e.f. 1.12.2012. The college has estasblished its temporary office on the First floor of Trauma Center building.
